Our puppies are born and raised in our home and are very well-socialized by the time they go to their new families between 8 & 12 weeks of age. We have grandkids that live close by who are always eager to hug, love, and play with our doxie youngsters.

At Nuforest Dachshunds, we pride ourselves on raising happy, healthy, and well-socialized AKC Miniature Dachshunds. There are no aggressive or grumpy Dachshunds here — every one of our dogs is friendly, people-loving, and eager to please. Our mothers are calm and trusting, even around visitors, and love showing off their puppies. You can reach into any of our whelping boxes without fear — that’s how confident and gentle our Dachshund moms are.
Most of our adult Dachshunds live outdoors in large, clean, and well-maintained kennel runs. As one of the largest and most active Dachshund show kennels in the USA, we ensure that every dog receives excellent care, attention, and affection. When you walk through our kennel, you’ll be greeted by wagging tails and smiling faces — proof of their happy, well-adjusted temperaments.

🐶 About Us — Bill & Susan Buck
We’re Bill and Susan Buck, longtime Dachshund enthusiasts based in Southern California. Bill is a retired San Diego Fire Department firefighter, and I (Susan) managed a large professional boarding kennel before dedicating my time fully to our dogs.
We’ve been breeding and showing Dachshunds since 1974. With more than five decades of experience and over 50 AKC Champion Dachshunds to our name, Nuforest Dachshunds stands among the nation’s most respected AKC-registered breeders. Because we keep a puppy from nearly every breeding, we know our lines intimately and work continuously to improve the Dachshund breed in each new generation.
Our reputation has been built on consistency — producing healthy, affectionate, and intelligent Dachshunds that excel in both the show ring and the home.

Beyond the show ring, we’re also avid sailors and Malibu Yacht Club members. Believe it or not, Miniature Dachshunds make fantastic boat dogs! Our little wire-haired girl, Diva, loves to sail — her “job” is to guard against pirates and sea monsters. Dachshunds also adapt well to motorhomes and RV travel, and many can even be litter-box trained, making them ideal travel companions.
🏆 Our Breeding Philosophy
Each year, our Dachshunds participate in over 100 AKC events nationwide. We personally handle many of our show dogs and also work with professional handlers for shows we can’t attend.
We continually study canine genetics, attend breeder education seminars, and conduct responsible test breedings to ensure sound temperament, structure, and health. Our knowledge of Dachshund colors, patterns, and coat types helps us preserve the breed’s diversity while maintaining top quality.
