CH GRANDGABLES SMARTEST ALECK “Aleck”
This is CH “ALECK” as we first saw him pictured as a promising puppy. After Aleck was shipped to us from Canada he walked into the ring and started winning. He finished his Championship in short order and is now watching his youngsters strut there stuff in the show ring.
We were thrilled to get the news from Allison about her handsome young Dachshund.
Dear Bill and Susan. He did it! He went BOW and BOS for a 3pt major on Friday at my home kennel club’s show! He is such a star! Thank you both SO much for the opportunity to own a Champion! ~~ from Allison Groseclose as she announced Maverick’s final win to earn his AKC Championship.
(Note from Susan: Not just another pretty face! Allison and Maverick have been busy … besides earning his AKC CHAMPIONSHIP they have also done other types of training. “CGC” is the American Kennel Club title for CANINE GOOD CITIZEN, and “TKN” is the AKC Title for TRICK DOG NOVICE. “MSB” at the end of Maverick’s name stands for miniature smooth brindle, “BOW” is Best of Winners, “BOS” is Best Opposite Sex)

Johnny
This handsome red piebald wirehair is CH “JOHNNY.” He is pictured taking his first AKC points, a 4 point major win from the Bred-By-Exhibitor Class under Judge Anne M. Schmidt on November 2, 2019 at the Desert Valley Dachshund Club.
Covid closed down dog shows so Johnny had to wait over a year to be seen again. During the wait, he just got better and better. He finished his championship with all major wins from the Bred By Class… always shown by Bill.
AKC GRAND Ch Nuforest Johnny D’ Good MWP
Our Johnny is now AKC GRAND Ch Nuforest Johnny D’ Good MWP. Our red & white piebald wirehaired miniature Dachshund boy, Johnny is now Group Placing GRAND CHAMPION NUFOREST JOHNNY D’GOOD MWP. Judge Jon Cole awarded him Second in the Hound Group at Durango Kennel Club on October 22, 2021. (Should I mention the Rhodesian Ridgeback that got first in the Hound Group that day went on to win Best in Show?)
Charley Loosely translated from German Charley’s name means “Cheap Wine”. He might have started off as a “2 Buck Chuck” but he aged into a fine premium wine as he finished his AKC Championship with 5 major wins.
Mandy is co-owned and usually shown by our daughter, Mrs. Jennifer Groves. The judge in the photo is Molly Martin who awarded Mandy BOV (Best of Variety) over Specials at South Bay Kennel Club, Saturday, October 6, 2022.
Anthony finished his AKC Championship at the San Diego Dachshund Club’s show on February 25, 2022. Pictured is Judge Dr. Judith Newton, who awarded Anthony Best of Winners. (With this win, Bill and Nuforest Dachshunds retired San Diego Dachshund Club’s oldest remaining Challenge Trophy)
It didn’t take long for our handsome black & tan wirehaired puppy to finish his AKC Championship. We handed him over to our new professional dog show handler, CURTISS SMITH on June 17th, and less than three months later Curtiss called us with the news that Roger was now CHAMPION ROGER. The first time Curtiss took Roger into the ring as a new champion, we got a call that Roger had been awarded Select Dog in the Best of Variety Class and was on his way to being a GRAND CHAMPION. Roger will be back home with us soon, and we have some great breedings planned.
CH Lizzy, one of our red piebald miniature wirehairs, is shown with Bill on the day she finished her AKC Championship. The judge, Pat Trotter (pictured), awarded Lizzy a 5-point major win at the Red Canyons Kennel Club of Southern Utah’s morning show.
This is our newest miniature longhaired AKC Champion. And she is a JOY!
Perhaps you can see some of her Russian Champion sire in her. (Look for our CH IVAN on these pages to see what traits they share.)
Joy is pictured here with our professional handler Curtiss Smith and the judge, Judith Brown, who awarded Joy her first 4-point Major Win Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Red Canyon Kennel Club of Southern Utah afternoon show. It only took a few more weeks for Joy to become AKC CHAMPION NUFOREST ALMOND JOY MLD. Hopefully, we’ll get her latest photo up on this site soon.
