Nico

Good afternoon! Hoping all is well at Casa Nuforest. Nico’s personality and disposition continue maturing very nicely. He’s as smart as the Devil, yet as sweet as Baby Jesus. He’s now mastered all of our daily routines and chores, and lets me know if I make any deviations from the norm. He knows everybody in the neighborhood, and is a social butterfly to the extreme.  Having only had *smooth* dachshunds during my life, I was unprepared for the tireless energy level and unshakeable obstinance of a Wirehair – but we’ve managed to come to agree and understand each other’s limits, haha. Nico is a true Master of Comedy, and gets his ‘kicks’ by pranking me with clever mischievousness. We are very good for each other.

I thought you might enjoy seeing a few pics of Nico, now 9.5 pounds and not likely to grow any more. He is a total lover, and such a happy, sweet personality. Plus a perpetual ball of energy, as you’d imagine. He’s way too smart, but now starting to become interested in cooperating and being trainable, ha ha. We are perfect for each other. Hope all is well with you both, sending best wishes

Hi Susan

It’s been a while since I reached out.  Couple of new pictures for you. He’s doing well and enjoying life. We’ve been having temperatures in the 100 on and off for the past few weeks and this week has been with matching humidity. Today is the worst of all days, it’s supposed to cool down on Thursday, high 80s and with any luck some much-needed rain. I only keep him out long enough to do his business and then I carry him back in, the grass is dead and crunchy and the sidewalks I’m sure are hot hot hot!

I hope things are cooler in California!

Love – Catherine

Striker

Hi Susan + Bill!

Puppy is fine-

He’s very cute!

Striker-  (note from Susan:  Striker is one of our Rescue’s, a 3 year old black & tan wirehair)

He’s adjusting fine. He’s getting his confidence with the others showing him. He’s bonded with the puppy a little more. We have him in leash walks and he jumped right in the pack and is smart that way.  ~~Tim

Lucy – In Memoriam

Hello.  I have a very heavy heart after losing out Lucy last week, and want to wait a little while, but would like a new puppy from NuForest!

We adopted Lucy from you 12 years ago.  She lived to the ripe old age of 18 and 3 months.  Lucy was slowing down for a couple of years, but still loved to run/hop into the kitchen to eat, and ate well the last day of her life.  She crossed the bridge during the night, peacefully,  It was very quick, but it seemed that her frail little body (she had lost 3 pounds or so) just quit.  I watched her cross the bridge, almost one organ system at a time—but very gracefully.  She was a rough and tumble girl, but still very feminine.  I think you called her the “nappy headed” one, or something!  I was always impressed by her vitality, veracity, and just ability to communicate and play with the other dogs.  Her health was amazing, and that is why I would love to have a puppy from NuForest.  We are interested in a boy, perhaps a mix of colors, but with a sweet temperament.  The shy, quiet ones are interesting.  I have no idea if you have any pups not claimed, but am very interested!  Long-haired preferred, then wire.  Light colored coat, if possible.

Thank you.  And thank you for letting us own Lucy so long ago.  I can’t begin to tell you how many people commented on her looks and stature over the years . . . remarkable!

Thanks, also, for your consideration.  I would always consider another rescue from you, if that could ever happen again!
